District Sialkot, which has been chosen for this proposed project is known for its industrial advancement and export of high quality hand made goods since many years. The district has established worldly renowned product lines in sports good, surgical instruments, cutlery, leather garments, and plastic good manufacturing sectors. The manufacturing processes for most of these trades are home based, or catered through small production units which are spread in the rural and urban neighborhoods of the entire district. Because of such widespread of manufacturing processes at home, and neighborhood level the women artisans’ engagement in the paid work is very high in this district. For instance, manufacturing processes of soccer balls are extremely segmented therefore it is to be produced in homes.

MOJAZ Foundation (MF) has started to work with these women in Tehsil Sialkot and Pasrur through GEP grant program. MOJAZ Foundation has been engaged in improving the livelihood of underprivileged men and women in Punjab and Sindh with special emphasis on women economic empowerment. The GEP grant has provided an opportunity to MF to support women in strengthen their craft skills, business management skills and augment their problems through business and financial services.
